Just spoke to another consulting firm cold-calling me off my resume. This one seized up with shock and panic when I gave her my expected rate and informed me that they were looking at $75/hr. I was insulted.
Yeah, that bought of culture shock is over. Now if one of these interviews would get around to making a decision already. Grrr.
Edit to add: Just got email from new firm. It says that they’ll do everything they can to get me my higher rate and assures me that they’re a very professional firm. (Perhaps in response to my snippy “That’s the lowest rate anybody has suggested to me by about $10/hr”) They’re not just professional, but they, “intend to remain professional 8-)” Uhm, yeah. Those are some professional emoticons you’re trucking out there. Good job.
